Founding Partner

Arni has over two decades of experience with start-ups and private equity as a startup-up co-founder, VC fund manager, investment banker, and VC general partner. He was the manager of Uppspretta VC fund, following his role as founding CEO of UK AdTech start-up, He has completed transactions and managed PE/VC investments in more than ten countries and has served as a board director in almost two dozen start-ups. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Iceland and holds an M.Sc. degree from Denmark's Technical University in Informatics and Operations Research.



Founding Partner

Before co-founding Brunnur Ventures 8 years ago, Sigurdur has had more than two decades of building up start-ups and high growth companies with track record of multi-million-dollar revenue and subsequent high-growth profits. He has experience in various roles; as a co-founder and CEO of Iceland’s most successful gaming companies (CCP) sold to Pearl Abyss for USD 425 million, as COO and CFO in growth companies, (Industria and Hringras), and as an investor and board director in numerous start-ups. Focus: AI, B2B, B2C, SaaS, IT, gaming, and cybersecurity.




Experienced in funding and operations. Previous work experience includes working at Landsbankinn in corporate finance, corporate restructuring, consultation and support for new businesses, business development and marketing; and at a consulting engineers firm in procurement management and implementing ISO 9001 quality system. Margret worked as a manager at Carbon Recycling International for 6 years, latest as Deputy CEO. Margret has a M.Sc in Economics and B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland. She also received a in Energy Systems and Policies from The School of Renewable Energy Science.



Venture Partner

Kjartan is an entrepreneur and angel investor with deep startup experience in Iceland and in New York. Prior to joining Brunnur Kjartan was the co-founder of Basno Inc., a digital certification platform, and the founder of Volta ehf. a private startup studio and investment boutique. Previously Kjartan served as the Director of Business Development for the international media company Bertelsmann Inc. in New York and worked closely with Bertelsmann portfolio companies in the U.S. and U.K. on various digital media initiatives; including SonyBMG Music, Random House, and Fremantle Media.

In addition to his commercial endeavors, Kjartan has served on the board of multiple non-profits including Reykjavik Arts Festival, Harpa Concert Hall, American Scandinavian Foundation and he currently serves as the Chairman for UNICEF in Iceland.

Kjartan has been honored as "Mentor of the Year" at Startup Reykjavik, and received the Nordic Startup Awards as "Best Business Angel, Iceland".
Before joining as a Venture Partner, Kjartan served on the Board of Directors of Brunnur I since its inception in 2015.

Kjartan studied philosophy and logic in Iceland and Italy, and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
